Fire Rated Shutters Construction:

Manufactured from 77 mm curved galvanised steel lath 20swg

Galvanised steel T-section bottom rail

Galvanised 75mm X 25mm X 3mm mild steel guides

Constructed to Exova Warrington Fire test certificate standard BSEN 1634-1

Hood/canopy support brackets may be required, depending on fire rating, size and weight

Fire Rated Shutters Operation:

Electrically operated external chain drive motor available in 3 phase, 415 volts, 50Hz, or 1 phase, 240 volts, 50Hz

The motor is designed to de-clutch, allowing the shutter to gravity close in a fire situation at a controlled speed (option to power down)

Complete with emergency hand chain facility and rocker or key switch supplied as standard

Release Mechanisms

Generally by auto solenoid release, linked to the fire alarm. The solenoid requires a 24 Volt DC, 0.55 Amps signal. This is the most commonly used method of activation, allowing for frequent testing and re-setting. When the shutter is returned to the open position (after removal of the fire signal), the solenoid can be automatically reset. A fusible link or localised smoke/heat detector (see back page for details) can be used as back-up to activate the shutter, or as an alternative if no fire alarm signal is available.

Obviously a fire alarm cannot activated to close or cover a fire exit area.

Finish:

Galvanised self colour finish with one coat of primer paint on end plates, angles and barrel; can be polyester powder coated to any RAL or standard BS4800 colour.
